Kiyotsukyo gorges in tokamachi city is the one of the three biggest gorges in Japan.
I visited there by a car on the way to Tokyo from Niigata city.
You can see a view that kiyotsukyo gorges created in the four view spots of the tunnel.
The river is called kiyotsu river flows between giant cliffs, and created gorges forming like “V”.
The shapes of the cliff is called columnar joint.
Magma contracted to rocks having the columnar shapes looking like quadrangle to hexagon when magma became hard by coolness.
The cliff is bunched up these rocks.
You can see kiyotsukyo gorges from panorama station that is the deepest view spot in the tunnel.
Kiyotsu river also has emerald green color, so the grand cliff and kiyotsu river created very beautiful kiyotsukyo gorges and would move you.
